剧集的幕后核心是导演Edgar Wright和编剧兼主演的Simon Pegg、Jessica Stevenson。第一集里咖啡店偶遇的古怪失恋漫画家Tim和慵懒无业作家Daisy假冒成夫妻租到了一套公寓，故事就围绕着他俩的生活和微妙发展的关系展开起来。

But suddenly his British uncle David calls to say he’s dying. But when the nephew heads back to England, it turns out the uncle is more dramatic than dying. Uncle David is, in fact, a closeted old theatre actor who trips around half-naked in his mess of a home quoting Shakespeare. But while he’s at it, his nephew Simon turns on his camera and starts filming his old uncle for a movie worthy of a Shakespeare play.
